The Light Factory Gallery is a shining new beacon in the Yarra Valley arts community. The gallery was officially opened on the 18th of August, 2010, by Steve Herbert, MP, and sculptor Deborah Halpern. The Light Factory Gallery promotes excellence, innovation and passion for fine arts. Originally built in 1973 as a light factory by renowned Alistair Knox, the building is supported by twelve massive oregon posts, with continuous surrounding clerestory windows that allow light to flood the central atrium. Tucked away behind the gallery is a tea house that overlooks the sculpture garden. The garden changes every three months with new sculptures rotating. The tea house provides a selection of quality teas, good coffee and light meals. The Yarra Valley region has a long history of inspiring artists and has also had a supportive community. The Light Factory Gallery’s mission is to nurture artists and re-invigorate the discussion and appreciation of art in the region.
