Design your own template, with the tutor's assistance, and learn leadlight construction techniques to create it. Your finished piece will be fitted with eyelets so it can be hung in a window space. All works will be cement sealed, lead blackened and polished. If time permits, leftover off-cuts will be copperfoiled and soldered to create a three sided candle-lamp.
Your tutor is acclaimed glass artist Richard Apel. He has completed numerous public art commissions including a stained glass chapel window at Wesley Hospital in Brisbane. In 2008, Richard was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to learn centuries old German glass painting and firing techniques at the Schilling factory in Frankfurt.
